Did you get anything from Sunday? Or was it all marred by me swearing me head off and complaining? Razz

It was quite passable. I wonder how the community will go about campaigns and more historical missions? Everything felt a bit close yesterday. I asked 92nd what they thought about BoS... They are not intrested so it is unlikley that SoW will run BoS campaigns.

It was fun on both occasions, but quite an arcade game experience.

Hopefully we shall get some dedicated servers and properly designed missions. I'm not ready to jump into BOS as of now. The CloD and SOW still provide a much more mature an environment.

Anyway, I need to fiddle with my flight control sensitivity and key-bindings. It will not do that I only manage to take off twice on the Fw-190 and crash the next ten attempts. Better do some off-line practice on the "Lofte" bombsight also.

BOS VS CLOD, CLOD VS BOS

Post  Herbert Wolfgang on Mon Sep 22, 2014 5:38 am

Rudolf Farber wrote:

I would certainly agree with you Farber. I know from watching one of the live stream videos that they wont be focusing on historical units, placements etc... Aiming for arcade/ quick pace action rather than historical...But it would be nice to add custom/ true aircraft markings for example? I would like more space/ time to get ourselves organised without being harassed by other players (i.e. Bomber aircraft base - further away, spread of airfield locations).

Its a shame... BOS is growing on me somewhat... but I know BOS isn't CLOD, and CLOD isn't BOS... both games have their good and bad elements... BOS may just need (agreed) squad involvement from time to time and everyone needs to sort out the key binds which stole some of the enjoyment yesterday (eh Farber ;])...

I suggest going on this link: http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/10268-chucks-aircraft-guide/#entry157599
Chuck has clearly spent some time and thought with these! I found the HE111H6 guide very useful! Still need to check out the rest!

PS. Most be the longest post I've made eh (Farber)?! Cool

Key Binds - What Ive done!

Post  Herbert Wolfgang on Mon Sep 22, 2014 5:45 am

Can anyone suggest to me how to upload the word docs?

Just thought I should include the two word documents I have made showing all my (IL2 BOS) keyboard (mostly, if not all, are game default) and input device controls!

Please use/ adjust as you wish! Any tips or suggestion are welcomed!

Wolfie

The forum has limitations. Thus the documents we've posted actually reside on Google Drive.

a) Feel free to use your own Google account, create the document there, choose publish and copy-paste the link into a post in our forum.
b) Send them to me and I'll use my Google Drive

I find the russian PE-2 very playable, You can hunt 111 with it Dive bomb and level bomb, and it got the best FM ever.
In Generqal the russian planes are very good and believeable to fly compared to the German ones.
I like it. It is quite easier and faster to fly than cod and a good releave from cod also

Syndicate got a good dedicated beta server up, it is full all the time but it is very much playable,

We are currently not active enough to take in recruits. It is really the hard fact. I am still in this unit because I enjoy those few gatherings we do have, but they are too few for a dedicated clod flyer

Too me it seems I am the only one active and actually fly clod at the moment. And I got one weekend left before I am away for 3 weeks.
Tell us when and I be there.

I could get online on Saturday afternoon/evening. Sunday evening, too.

Got my Saitek X-55 Rhino last night and I've been redoing all my key-bindings today. I should be fine tomorrow.

I certainly felt allot better this week. Wolfgang and I were performing far too well for a pair that have not been putting the stick time in, so either were awesome or the opponants are pretty lacking... Cool

In the 109 I noticed the pitch and stick are quite strangely intertwined. Just look at the U/pm guage and keep it really low in level flight, about 2100. This will feel really low on the throttle, about 40% but it will keep your engine nice and cool.

When climbing really really hard straight up like out climbing another fighter, really need to start closing the throttle early in the climb... or you fry it.

Reminds me of the good ole Forgotten Battles - frying the engine of the Gladiator while trying to catch the Soviet bombers.

The 109G-2 seems to tolerate full throttle and high rpm quite well, but the F-4 is a sensitive lady, indeed. I kept my ATA below 1.2 most of the time and still it blew up. Can you switch off the auto prop pitch?

Seems you cant switch off the auto pitch.  Wolfgang was telling me the G2 has a rev limiter of some kind. Naturally its engine settings will be slightly higher aswell.
